2014 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny- France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (11/22/2016)
Roumier’s Chambolle is to wine what Hemingway was to literature. There’s no artifice, not an element is wasted or there without reason. It is direct and of the highest quality. This '14 has a stony base on which pretty cherry fruit plays. There are root vegetable and rhubarb notes connecting the drinker directly to the earth. It is savoury, minerally, balanced and utterly delicious.
One wishes this were an under the radar producer, at average pricing for Chambolle village, which is what, about $60+ now? Mugnier, Vogue, and Roumier are all $100+ and Dujac is pushing $100.
