2014 Descendientes de José Palacios Bierzo Villa de Corullon - Spain, Castilla y León, Bierzo (2/14/2024)
– decanted approx. 1 hr. before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over 2 - 3 hrs. –

NOSE: savory/stemmy; red/purple fruit mix; some mineral; inoffensive whiffs of minestrone soup come and go.

BODY: violet-garnet color of medium-deep depth, with slight bricking; medium bodied.

TASTE: lots of tannins and mineral; flashy, with medium to medium+ acidity; embedded garrigue, which pushes forward on the finish; little bit tertiary; pretty good; tar; fruit is dark; medium to medium+ concentration of fruit; 13.5% alc. well-hidden; still seems kinda young. This is a serious Mencia! Drink Now - 2034. Gut impression score: 92

These wines age for a long time. I had the ‘99 last year and it was still needed more time - much better on day 2.

Whoa!!! Dang!
