TN: 2012 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

2012 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (4/18/2026)
On a cool evening, wanted to try my first one of these. Stood up for a few weeks, decanted to avoid any fine sediment. Lovely translucent ruby color. Powerful masculine nose of smoky tar, anise, black pepper and dark earth. Still quite tight on the palate, with partially resolved tannins, pure crunchy red fruit and acid filled finish. Going to let the remaining bottles rest for at least another 5-7 years as this will have another gear with some age.

Jud, sounds great! I adore Vietti single cru’s, one of the few wines that I will spend north of $175 on. I have 2 bottles of the 12 Ravera but am going to let them sleep a while before cracking open one.
