TN: 2012 Punta Crena "Reiné" Mataòssu Colline Savonesi IGT

2012 Punta Crena “Reiné” Mataòssu Colline Savonesi IGT. Supposedly, Punta Crena is the only producer making true, 100% Mataòssu wines. This is about the fourth time I’ve had this wine, and it continues to impress me. The salinity and minerality are incredible, and put this right in my wheelhouse. There is also a full range of citrus here from crisp lemon to more fleshy blood orange. Last night, this went incredibly well with a cheese plate and veggies, particularly cucumber, and smoked salmon with dill. It’s a wine to be enjoyed with food due to the high acid component. But one couldn’t be blamed for wanting to sip it on the patio or deck on a warm summer evening.

Not just a winery that is new to me, but a grape and also the appellation. Liguria indeed is something of a blindspot for me, with just a single Rossese di Dolceacqua in the cellar.

Interesting Brad. Is this a Thomas Liquors purchase?

Yes. South Lyndale may have it also. Kermit Lynch is the importer.
