2012 Foley Johnson Pinot Noir - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (10/17/2014)
P,P &P (pobega’d, popped & poured)
Pretty color of a deep crimson with purple tinged edges. Nose shows some blueberry, chocolate covered cherries and strawberries. This is not your father’s pinot noir, nor your mother’s, this is mine.
Palate shows a very masculine structured pinot with large tannins and acidity to cover; densely packed blue and red fruits with much interest and verve. Notes of sassafras, boysenberry and more, this glides across the palate with grace and aggression entwined as one. I like the semi plushness this shows. Finish shows long and the fruits go a bit dry but not negative, I call it more interest. After a few minutes gone I sense an almost sour cherry. A nice drop on what can only be the best Indian summer Fridays you could ever want. (90 pts.)
