TN: 2011 Ridge Geyserville (USA, California, Sonoma County)

Seen it for $34.99. neener

$32 at Bottle Barn

I don’t know why I don’t drink more of this. I have always liked it, but maybe I am too busy looking for something new and Ridge isn’t “it”. Silly. Gonna go pick some up tomorrow.

Precisely. I sleep on this wine for no reason.

As a n00b to American wines, I’d like to know this as well - cheers.

Yup, silly good wine. Just killed another '09 Estate Cab. It’s just no frills, no nonsense yummy goodness.

Just bought my first Geyserville this past weekend based on this thread. Should I give it a shot in the near future to see what it’s all about, or let it rest a few years before opening? Most of what I have heard about this wine is that it ages wonderfully and needs a little time to develop but this TN leads me to believe otherwise.

Here’s a list of the vintages with scores.

I drinks real nice right now. Try it and then figure it will be 3 times as good with age. That’s when you will stock up.

Agree with the above comments. In terms of whether to drink or not, I’d recommend buying 3 bottles - drink one now to see how you like the wine, try another in 2-3 years, and hold onto the last one (if you can) until 5 or more years. Ridge has always had a strong reputation for good wines which age well as you’ll see if you peruse the notes in CellarTracker.

I had a lovely bottle of 1994 Geyserville last month. My first experience with an aged Ridge Zin. Really nice wine which did not seem tired at all.

Had a 1991 last week. Amazing, and still a baby (okay, a petulant pre-teen). Ridge Geyserville at 20-30 years is an amazing treat.

total wine is usually my go to for the lytton and geyserville

$29.99 plus 10% off 6+ bottles everyday. Or if you can catch a coupon, sometimes 15% off.

$32 at LAWC. I’m not comfortable buying age worthy wines at Bevmo or Total Wine or Trader Joe’s.

Picked up four bottles today and popped one. Poured through the Vinturi into a decanter. Just fantastic. Going to have to go back for more to age. Good thread!

Picking wines up at PC today, they had an in store sale on a few wines. 11 Geyserville @ $33.99 plus 20% off, grabbed 6. Not sure if its available online.

Doesn’t appear to be available online. I was going to call, but too late. But add shipping to the east coast and it might not even matter. Local might be equal.

PC?

Premier Cru is my guess based on my search.

Popped the 2010 last night. Very primary, grapey, as expected but solid enough for me to buy a batch. The 2011 has not hit the shelves locally.
