TN: 2011 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard

  • 2011 Loring Wine Company Pinot Noir Clos Pepe Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (5/17/2023)
Loring has a weight I enjoy, smooth and unpretentious; carries a vein of purity that I love. Heavy black cherries, cola, vanilla... the base... some time kissed in. Add all spice, fun dip, some boysenberry, other red berries, and some tea notes. The acidity is a bit muted a bit on this bottle (not all bottles); Tannins give good texture; Finish punches but does not punch long in this case.

Brian was one of our earliest producers. He always did a great job with our fruit. I asked to purchase his last two cases of the Clos Pepe 2014. He gave them to me free. Always a class act.

I have yet to try Brian’s Pinot, but I adore his Chardonnay’s. Very underrated.

Clos Pepe was one of our favorite Loring wines.

Takes me way back to when I first met Brian, and he had two wines - the 2000s from Garys and Clos Pepe. Those two vineyard bottlings remained my favorites even after his SKU count exploded.
