TN: 2011 Domaine Monier Perreol St. Joseph Laliefine

This was recommended to us as we were still thirsty after a 2009 Raveneau Montee de Tonnerre and were in the mood for a red. A quick sip told us it needed to be decanted, so into the carafe with you. Gorgeous aromatics of lavender infused dark fruits and earthy notes rose up from the dark purple liquid, an intoxicating mix of scents that made me want to do lines of this.

Apparently, this is a wine made from juice that’s been resting on the lees from each barrel then aged several months before bottling. It was quite intense on the palate, with the same dark but bright fruits and earthy meatiness balanced by a striking acidity and a long long finish on a medium-bodied frame. Really pretty but big and lush at the same time.

This guy is killing it right now. Kermit hit it big time with his wines.

If his other wines are as good, this is a gold mine. It was my first Monier Perreol, and it was fantastic.

Were you at pearl and ash?

Ryan, yes. Patrick strongly recommended this based on what he knew our palates were like. He nailed it.
