2011 Domaine Lucien Lardy Fleurie Les Chênes - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie (6/12/2014)
Popped and poured. Temp was about 66F. Bright nose, lots of tart black cherry and raspberry, sandalwood, and notes of cedar. With air, a big whiff of jasmine and lavender came out, also orange oil. On the palate it’s perfectly fruity but with peppery spice. Dark again, cherries, and red raspberry laying on a bed of tannin. Tastes like there’s some carbonic at play because it’s so friendly and fun, but has a serious side too. Loooong finish, 20 seconds at least. Orange bitters and concrete dust linger before slowly dissolving. (90 pts.)
