TN: 2011 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers

  • 2011 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod / Barthod-Noëllat Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (10/9/2014)
Really punchy, spicy, floral nose bursting with violets and rose petal notes. It has good flesh up front with excellent detail of red berry and black cherry fruits. It tightens through the palate and has some cooler green notes towards the back end finishing with a light pepperiness. I like the wine’s brightness and fidelity.

Fidelity? To what may I ask?

This is an incredible wine. I sought out extra bottles. Not cheap but delicious

I suspect terroir. In the sense that a recording device’s ability to accurately record data is defined as a measure of fidelity, I could see someone saying that the “transparency” of a wine to its underlying origins could be seen as a type of fidelity.

Referring to the wine’s minimal amounts of distortion.

Pfff. No one wants 11s.

(Psst. Just bought home 11 Veroilles tonight!)

Thanks for the note Jeremy!

I bought some of her 2011 wines including the Gruenchers after drinking a spectacular 2011 Chambolle. Giving them 10+ of cellar time.

LOL.
Sipping on a 11 Pacalet Chambolle 1er at the Park Hyatt Tokyo.
This is a nice wine too! (I like the Barthods better however)

Good to hear that some of her wines are good in 11. The Bourgogne was very poor, zero fruit.
