TN: 2011 Cappellano Barbera d'Alba Gabutti (Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba)

For as long as I had bottles of this I drank them almost exactly one year apart. I must have a bottle hiding in the attic, as the wine has barely changed. It’s still richly fruity, a touch volatile and oh so long on the finish. Delicious, and I am sad that they are all gone.

Loaded question given that value is relative, but is it worth it compared to other Barbera? I love Cappellano Rupestris and am wondering whether it’s worth the premium to buy their Barbera.

It is worth it to me.

Thanks for the fine note David. Cappellano is one of the few Barbera I think shines this far from vintage. I just looked and I still have a lone '09 somewhere that I should find.

Thanks again.
