2010 Vietti Barolo Castiglione- Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (12/18/2014)
Mmmmm this is good! Perfect light red berry Barolo color….dusty cherry, dried rose, cinnamon stick, raspberry farm nose. Not at all too tannic right now…I’ve had some puckering ones from this Castiglione….still pretty dry, but not sucking dry. Subtle red berry fruit…bright and floral…pretty. But don’t be fooled here…still has sneaky structure……just took another sip, and got slapped in the face!! Love that! Great dryness, yet wets the salivary glands……little tar, crunchy minerals, smoke, spice. Tasty now for its youth and freshness…but I can see this gaining in 10. A must case buy! (94 pts.)
That’s very true. But Castiglione is Cdn$73 locally, which is hard to swallow knowing its around $45 in the US. But I picked up another bottle today anyway. Not enough to waste one early. I’ll wait years to see how this is.
Fixed: I discovered I had one more, so I have half a 6 pack, which I assume means half a case.
I’m still waiting for a lot of 09 Barolo to clear off the local shelves and be refreshed with 10’s.
