TN: 2010 Roagna Barbera d'Alba

  • 2010 Roagna Barbera d’Alba - Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d’Alba (5/5/2017)
Color: Ruby core w/ a rose meniscus
Smell: This is rustic and earth-driven with notes of mushrooms, fresh soil, smoke, black cherry, framed in floral notes.
Taste: Boysenberry, tobacco leaf, leather, and faded notes of aged cedar.
Overall: This is better than I remember…and one of the most spectacular Barberas that I’ve encountered. Medium body, med+ fruit, med tannin, followed with a finish that ebbs and flows detailing the complexity that is waiting and may improve with more time. Outstanding!! (with room to improve)
