TN: 2010 Penner-Ash Pinot Noir Pas de Nom - Something else different

Tonight, a winery’s flagship wine. I love the 2010 vintage for Oregon pinot noir, but am not sure this one will improve from here.

A very smooth but unspectacular 2010 OPN. Like others, it smells like dark fruit and black tea, but has a hint of orange peel. In the mouth, you get a little more cherry and spice. Moderate tannins still, but not a lot of acid. It’s a little soft on the finish and makes me think this is at its peak. Have cellared PDN’s since 2010, and the smooth style makes me wonder how they’ll age past 8 years. Will report back after opening a 2011. (92 pts.)

I think this is one of the OR producers that’s leans more modern…so you get a flashy, supple, wine that I rarely think improves with more than a year in the bottle…they’re pretty much ready to go.
