This bottle was drinking fantastic tonight. A little bit of funk on opening that blew off fairly quickly. The nose was a little tight at first but it was drinking really good right out of the gate. The palate was dominated by strawberry tones with a little bit of cherry, tiny bit of cola and some earthy/spicy tones. What I enjoyed about this bottle was the mouth feel and the balance - sometimes the finish leaned towards the acidic side and the next moment some slight tannins would sneak in. Very enjoyable and recommended. Matrix is one of the Wilson (zins) family wineries in the Russian River area. Pinots at Matrix are a team effort made by Diane Wilson and Antoine Favero at Mazzocco.
