PnP. The initial glass was a mess. Just felt like a forced amalgamation of spice and cherry and heat. I compared it to some inexpensive Spanish tempranillos. Later on, though, it did improve. The red cherry actually became fresher, the spice receded, replaced by good smokiness, and some other dark red fruits poked through. The finish is still short. (85 pts.)

Hmmm, too bad this was a poor performer. I’d continue trying the '10’s from the S. Rhone, but maybe step it up a notch – quality was supposed to be good but yields were down. To me, this means the higher-end bottlings will be good, but the lower-end bottlings may suffer a bit.

I am not that disappointed by it. It is only a $13 bottle. What I did like is that spice to smoke transition. I dont have a lot of experience with S Rhone but definitely willing to make additional attempts.

BTW, doesn’t mean I didn’t finish off the bottle.
