Smokey petrol crushed seashell reduction with iodine and tidal pool on the nose. Rippling and muscular acids frame a limestone spicy lemon-ginger palate with a strong saline finish. 2010 is a killer Chablis vintage and this was a perfect bottle.
Sounds great
Where’s the madly jealous emoji?
Opened this tonight. While I wouldn’t say my bottle performed on the level described in the OP, but it has been an excellent accompinament to the Mediterranean fish we had tonight and a genuine delight to drink. I don’t think my bottle is flawed in any way, and I defninitely get the ocean spray, saline and seashell notes. On the other hand, it was a bit more subtle and nuanced than the tour de force described in the OP.
All of that said, I wish it had been a mag instead of a 750, because I will miss it now that it is gone.
Funny enough I drank my last one two weeks ago and had a similar experience to you. Still delicious, but much more subtle and nuanced.
It’s all about the bottle on the day it’s opened. Thanks for starting the thread and checking back in!
Yeah–I’ve got two of these left. Mine have been excellent, but not as mind blowing as the OP’s first post. I know Wil does this, but be sure to give the wine at least a couple of hours of air. These wines need it.
100% - At least 1 hour. Preferably 3+!
