- 2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru (10/29/2025)
Decanted for 1 hour. This bottle was a leaker, wine escaped up one side of the cork and accumulated under the wax and brown seepage was evident on the outside of the wax. That being said, the wine was in great shape, yellow colored and fresh. The nose is beautiful, more white flowers and Meyer lemon with less gunflint than usual from this producer. 09 is clearly a ripe year, and PYCM with this wine manages to dial down the ripeness and deliver a wine with a lot of body and a rich texture that retains freshness and acidity. PYCM seems to excel and deliver lively and fresh wines in ripe years like 05, 06, 09 and 15. (93 points)

Nice note.
You are spot on about PYCM’s ability to stand the heat. I’m usually scared to drink 15s but he killed it in that vintage.

Yep his 15s are so good, I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve already consumed 40 bottles from that vintage including a sublime Chevalier-Montrachet.
Regarding the 15s, it’s interesting that the late Steven Tanzer posted an interesting aside on the 2015 PYCM wines regarding their ability to resist oxidation:
“Colin, who considered the 2015s to be outstanding from the beginning, nonetheless noted that the wines changed dramatically during their last months of élevage. He had originally planned to bottle them in February but delayed the bottling date twice for his crus not from Saint-Aubin, as the wines were gaining in energy. He considers 2015 to be a classic vintage and better than 2014 for the long haul. “The ‘15s totally resist oxidation after you uncork them,” he noted.”
