Had a cr*ppy and long day at work so popped into Robert’s Market to try something new. I’ve heard of Kapcsandy, but never had any of their wines. It was on sale too, so I thought “why not?”
2009 Kapcsandy Family Winery Endre- USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville (5/9/2014)
Pop n pour. Cool room temp. Rich dark berry aromas. Currant. Light oak spice. In the mouth is surprisingly juicy and then leads into fattiness. Very rounded, soft mouth feel. Fine, but coating tannins…which at times can appear a little raw. Middling complexity. Not hot/alcoholic, which is a big plus. An interesting bordeaux type blend, modern in approach but not over the top. Not usually my cup of tea, but a fun diversion on occasion such as this one.
Here was my note on the 2009 Endre from September 2011 comprised of 50 Cabernet Sauvignon, 39 Merlot, 7 Franc, 4 Petit Verdot 1800 cases, 92 points
2009 Endre shows a lush and pretty nose of red and black fruits, along with a little graphite. Beautiful ripeness in the front of the mouth with solid structure to the deep black fruits. Drink 2011 – 2016.
