TN: 2009 Guillemot Savigny Aux Serpentieres

2009 Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Aux Serpentieres:
Fairly dark black cherry color. Spicy wood, tobacco leaf/damp earth, cherry, red currant nose. Soft, slightly plush feel with a nice freshness to the black cherry fruit and decent acidity. Very easy drinking and delicious. Sneaky tannins on the finish.

I have no reference point for this wine, having fairly little experience with SLB and none with Guillemot. It is surely a delicious wine. It definitely has the creamy texture that a number of 09s share, but it avoids any candied or overripe notes.

My note may sound like there is new oak treatment on this wine but I don’t think so. It has a nice spiciness that may come from wood but no vanilla or char.

Thanks for sharing. I have 3 of these and was thinking of popping the first one later this year. I also have three of D. Pavelots from the same. Meadows suggested drinking after 2013 for the latter, but I may pop both towards the end of the year for a direct side-by-side comparison.
