TN: 2009 Carlisle Syrah Cardiac Hill (USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley)

Mmm, mmm, mmm… [cheers.gif]

2nd look since release. Decanted but poured off a taste first. Initially showing lots of menthol and black fruit on the nose. Two hours in the menthol is enhanced with a char like cigarette/cigar ashes and some added green olive and bloody meat that leaves me mesmerized. Incredible nose. The palate can’t quite keep up with the nose a this time. It displays some acidic blackberry and blueberry with a splash of pepper and iron but it fades quickly when the mouth is overcome by the tannins. Needs more time to resolve but man is it showing potential or what? Cardiac Hill is producing some tantalizing cool climate Syrahs and this one is another great example.

How many of these do you have that you already drank two? I mean, I had a 2006 Carlisle Cardiac syrah a couple months ago.

Enough. You must understand that not everyone here has been amassing wine inventory as long as you have. Therefor we have to drink younger vintages. [cheers.gif]

My 2 cents…aaahhh nevermind. [snort.gif]
