2008 Salmon Creek Pinot Noir - USA, California (3/8/2010)
Fabulous QPR here. My wine store manager suggested I try this for $4.99, and I gave him that “what are you trying to sell me?” look. He told me to get past the price and try it. For $5 why not, right? Nice acidity, medium weight - a little cranberry and cherry - simple but very well put together.
I am not sure I’ve ever had a sub $10 Pinot Noir that I have liked, but I am going back for a case of this. If I was scoring, this may get an 86-87, light years better than expected.
FYI, the guy at the store said the Chardonnay is pretty ok, but the rest of their stuff is pretty bad.
