TN: 2008 Melville Viogner--Now this is my discovery Frenchie

What can I say, really good stuff. Lots of fruit, tropical and otherwise and dry. Has decent acidity and can be matched up nicely with food.

It starts out with a bit of a spritz so be patient.

Todd, if people get on board with my find I will give you credit for the Treana, otherwise mum’s the word and I will take all the credit. [rofl.gif] [gheyfight.gif]

Otto

Otto,

Smart to put this in the Asylum. TNs are leaving the front page of Wine Talk faster than subscribers fleeing wine rating publications.

Josh, I deleted the thread here and posted it in the Wine Talk. Guess did not work. mao?

I moved it to WT - when I can finally get to WT posts tonight, I’ll see if there is a repeat.

Unfortunately, Otto, Treana IS mine to claim, and Melville Viognier has been a longtime favorite go-to quaffer to many Socal folks for years - several TN’s already are posted about various vintages of it.

You best get back to the drawing board and find something you CAN call you own, bud.

Ok, let’s say that the wine finally got some legit review.

More serious, the one wine that I can really legit claim to the wine discovery is the 01 Worthy which I scored 93 and then few months later JL awarded it a 93 too. But that was 5 years ago.

As far as all of you guys who got it before me, of course I owe you a very big thanks you and [1928_middle_finger.gif]

Otto

Otto, let’s drink again sometime, okay?

We should sit on the same end of the table this time.

Todd you really like Treana?

I think it’s a nice quaffer - a white that is easily accessible, goes well with food, and can please a crowd.

Todd, I am just kidding, this is all fun, though to maintain my creds…but Iam just foolin here.

I know! Like Pepsi, this will never die on Wine Berserkers, and I would have it no other way.

Ok we have a palate war here…you thiink you can take me on probie???

I’ll post the notes on some wines tomorrow…match me if you can!

Cheers,
Otto

Probie?? Easy now…

C’mon Otto, Melville Viogniers have been getting good ratings for several years. The Verna’s pulled a 93 from Parker last year! I have been buying these since the '04 vintage. Unfortunately the alcohol levels are off the charts and will kick you in the head if you use this wine as a “starter” for a nice wine evening.

I usually skip TN’s on whites, so for me whenever I find a nice one–it’s my discovery  [rofl.gif]

Love it! LOL
