2008 Maison Albert Bichot Chablis Grand Cru Moutonne Domaine Long-Depaquit - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru (3/14/2012)
Quite rich and heady Chablis with smells redolent of rainwater from a galvo tank, river rocks drizzled with honey and citrus fruits. It is voluminous, nicely textured and has some limestone if you drill just below the surface. Once swallowed the wine squeezes fresh lemon juice around the gums, causing the Chablis purist to squint with delight.

Interesting note Jeremy. It has been my good fortune to have had Moutonne many times due to a friend of mine who is the local distributor, but maybe not the 2008. I am not a huge Chablis fan, I typically like a bit more ripeness/fullness on my Chards, so a Meursault is usually bit more to my taste, however I find the Moutonne to be one Chablis that tends to be more to my preference that others. By most critical accounts (and by me!), Moutonne is a very good wine, but given its more opulent profile compared to other Chablis, I am a bit surprised that a “Chablis purist” would find delight here.
Errol,
The richness and texture of this wine would delight the Meursault enthusiast but there is a big hit of lemony acidity and plenty of minerality to keep the Chablis purist engaged.
Best Regards
Jeremy
