2008 Kapcsandy Family Winery Endre - USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville (4/17/2014)
I gave 93, the lady gave it 95, and the difference… well, okay. We opened it for dinner at home on a Thursday night for one reason- we wanted an enjoyable wine for dinner. We also run short on space, so it was a win-win. This one delivers (!) . Special highlights- the nose flirtysmile which my partner defined as the best nose from all the wines we opened in Q1 and to date in Q2. She actually asked for a glass refill. Twice. In her opinion, the nose was better than the '03 Château Léoville Barton we had two months ago. I would not go as far, but I would certainly say it was wonderful. It got better as the evening went through and the wine sat in the glass abit and opened up.
I purchased two of those bottles. Sadly one of them was destroyed (sent by error during a heatwave week from the store) and I never enjoyed it. This one compensate for it. An amazing qpr. If this is the Kapcsandy ‘second’ label, I should certainly consider the first one. Or just more of this one Wonderful. and great match to our lamb and veggies. Long finish. Still smelling the empty glasses. Best qpr we had in a long time. At this price, I wish I had a case. Maybe I should look into getting few more through WB (94 pts.)

Endre is actually their 3rd or 4th wine. Got to count the Grand Vin, Estate, probably the Roberta’s Reserve , then Endre as their line up .

Erez, Thanks for the note. I got stuck buying 4 of these a few years back when they offered the '08 Grand Vin State Lane. It was a package deal.
The State Lane is/was a special bottle when I popped it last year. I’ll save the other bottle for a special occassion. [wink.gif]

Nice to see the Endre is progressing. Looking forward to tasting it again soon. Rumor has it one of my friends from Flyertalk may bring it to our annual wine dinner at North Square. Hard to believe that frequent flyers know something about wine. What’s the world coming to? [highfive.gif]

Opened the 2009 Kapcsandy Family Winery Endre tonight. Still needs time, imho. Very good. Excellent delivery of quality, but not as impressive as I recall the '08. That said, I ran out of the '08 awhile ago, so the '09 is a good backup plan :slight_smile:
