TN: 2008 Kapcsandy Estate Cuvée

  • 2008 Kapcsandy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville (7/24/2011)
This wine has been calling to me from the cellar for quite some time and I finally caved in and opened a bottle. A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. A little disjointed right out of the bottle and needs about 2-3 hours in the decanter. Given that decant, it really turns into an amazing experience. Lots of “redness” in this wine. Red fruit scents mixed with a touch of a minty note that I sometimes get from other high end Yountville AVA wines. There’s also some dark chocolate notes in there as well. Concentrated, thick, and super smooth from start to finish on the palate with more red berries dominating. The finish lingers for quite some time. Definitely enjoyable even at this young age providing you decant it for a bit. Going to be tough to stay away from the other bottles. (94 pts.)
