TN: 2008 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre

Fabulous, proper Chablis that hurts with all of the edgy geological things. It’s all citrus and mineral and the wines acidity is razor sharp stopping just short of drawing blood. It has a delightfully pure rainwater quality and its wince inducing properties get my juices flowing.

can’t support them due to the horrible premox problem–their 96s were fabulous but all but Vaudesir quicklypremoxed. Drink young!

My solution is to drink Droin young. Last week we drank '11 Droin MdT at The Kitchen Table in London and it was to my acid and mineral pleasure to do so.

Jeremy (and everyone else), if you do a gastro visit to London, you should take a look at The Kitchen Table, a 19 seat counter around the kitchen behind Bubbledogs. 16 courses of whatever chef James Knappett and his purveyors decide for the day. Fresh, inventive and delicious. The front room, Bubbledogs, serves hot dogs and champagne.

Mark, based on my experience I agree with you on Droin. Thanks for the heads up on the Kitchen Table. I look forward to checking it out when I’m in London.

Producer is dead to me.

I have enjoyed 2 bottles so far. Opened one a year ago and the other a month ago. Similar experience to your note and will hold off on my last bottle until next year. For the $33, including shipping, I spent this has been a great purchase. I still have 3 of the '10 Vaillons and Les Clos. Hopefully, the wine gods will shine brightly on these bottles.

Thanks for the heads up Mark.

Best Regards
Jeremy

Hi Joel,
I don’t know if you recall, but we’ve had a few meals together, although it has been some years since. I used to eat and drink with Bob M monthly in a wine group. I remember a particularly good meal at Melisse that you organized. Hope you are well. And do go to Kitchen Table.
