TN: 2008 Château d'Issan (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux)

Kind of a classic D’Issan and why I own more of this than almost any other Bordeaux. Very solid (not great), but a wonderful wine on a Sunday night with a steak and Brussel sprouts. A bit reticent on the nose and palate when I first poured. After a 2 hour decant, opened up quite a bit. Some cedar on the nose and on the palate, but still fairly primary with darker fruits and tannins. This definitely could have benefited from a few more years, but with a decant of an hour or two, it’s definitely in a good place.

Margaux is just loaded with, while they won’t knock your socks off, great Bordeaux options. Prieure Lichine, the Cantenac’s, Dauzac, Kirwan, Labegorce and D’Alesme, Ferriere, Siran, du Tertre, and so on
