TN: 2008 Calluna Vineyards Calluna Estate (USA, California, Sonoma County, Chalk Hill)

Is there a more under the radar quality producer of Bordeaux varietals in CA?

Double decanted. Throwing lots of sediment. Deep, dark color, ruby color at the edges. Showing aromas of violets, graphite, cassis, black cherry and cedar. Juicy black fruits on the palate with lively acid and big broad polished tannins. Additional notes of mineral, florals, spice and tobacco. Very nice depth and length, although the flavors are still wound tight after a few hours. This might have actually shut down a bit since I had it last two years ago, but still fun to drink. I’d give this a little time. Excellent wine, excellent producer. (92 pts.)

I think not. They do a wonderful job, thanks for the note!

I raised them under this thread on CA Merlot, for which they seem to be especially well-known:

But the other stuff I have by them has also been very fine, especially at their pricepoint.

The Aux Raynauds Merlot is a great one for sure. Massively structured. I love the price points as well!
