TN: 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Tapestry Reserve (USA, California, Napa Valley)

750 ml; PnP - this wine is in a great place right now. Lots of red fruit with some plum, leather, tobac. The acidity is very good - after every sip your mouth waters for more! We had with some perfectly grilled filet migon and it hit it out of the park. Definitely drink now for a very nice drink, or hold a bit and take your chances. (91 pts.)

Remember when this wine was $25 a bottle?

I don’t remember as I was more a beer drinker back then. I know BV gets looked over (or down on) pretty well due to their huge volumes and mass market appeal, but I did enjoy this wine, and it drank better at $40 than many Napa wines I have had at $80.

1995-1997 were great wines and values…used to buy them at grocery for $25-30.

After Laube trashed it for TCA problems, you could get the 2001 for $25 many places.

Different wine now though. They’ve hired Rolland and the wines are no longer quite the same. They used to be relatively lighter in weight than some of the newer Cab-based wines, and lower in alcohol. They’re riper and richer now. Still however, the Rutherford is 19.99 here and there, making it one of the better buys in CA Cabs at that price point. I’ve also seen it for $30 OTOH. Haven’t seen the Tapestry for less than $40 these days, and usually more, so I haven’t had it for a while.
