2007 Wind Gap Wines James Berry Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (10/17/2009)
I’m not sure if what I’m drinking is the JBV, as it was included gratis on an earlier order and the label only says 2007 and “Syr-Gr-Mvd.” If it is, it is surprisingly accessible given the official TN and I’m glad I have another one on the way, as this has a nice combination of raspberry, leather, mocha, olive, and other red fruits. I swear I remember Pam telling me in the spring that this wine would be ready to drink with a few more months in the bottle, which doesn’t sound like the JBV. This features some upfront sweetness that washes over the more mineral-tinged structure on the back half. 90+ for this effort. I appreciate the customer appreciation here since I’m a loyal but relatively small-volume buyer.
