2007 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills- USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills (3/8/2010)
I gave this 4 hours in a decantor. Very floral nose, with tons of baking spices, pure red fruits, strawberries, cranberry and pom. Very spicey mouthfeel with pomegranate and cranberry dominating through a very acidic core. Super young, smooth, long, and delicate. Will hold the rest for at least 3 more years. This could be a stunner. (91 pts.)
Given the notes that I’ve seen here on 07 Oregon, that’s not much of a pot stirrer! Seems like with a couple of exceptions (I think Chris G. is lukewarm for instance) Berserkerdom is pretty heavily on the side of “The critics missed this one” bandwagon.
This wine is gorgeous. Sooner or later someone will figure out that making broad statements about about Oregon Pinot may not be good idea. or maybe not works for me
J. Thomas dba Acme Winery. Does 350-400 cases of year, all by himself. A true Oregon cult producer. If you are not on the list or real quick at a few retail places in Oregon then you are not getting any.
I am working on a nice long vertical of Thomas right now. I even scored a few mag’s of the 07 but they will not see light for many more years.
I was simply pointing out that the Anti-Flavor Elites here are solidly pro-2007. As to those critics of whom you speak, WTF cares? I tend to drink wine, not critics. (Though exactly half of the scores on IWC for 07 Oregon Pinot are 90-94.)
