2007 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Appellation Series Paso Robles- USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (3/25/2010)
Just a quick note. A very nice moderately priced Zin. Really lovely ripe but not jammy or pruney fruit. Lots of spice, some chocolate, bright, bright black cherry. Medium weight, this went well with a good burger. The heat on the nose is the only negative to a nice, straightforward and fun zin. (88 pts.)
A tribute to the individuality of these great winegrowing regions, the Appellation Series draws fruit from top vineyards. Each lot is vinified separately, employing traditional methods of extraction, and following barrel aging the small-lots are blended together. In concert, the distinct characters of multiple single vineyards yield layered and complex wines.
As to this wine they have this to say about the vineyards
An ideal location for the cultivation of hearty Zinfandel, Paso Robles is a historic grape-growing region that benefits from a warm and arid climate. > Comprised of fruit from five distinct properties > this wine showcases the uniqueness of the region. Each vineyard brings a different layer of flavor and added complexity to the wine.
I had this at a restaurant but it’s $18 on their website.
