2007 Pierre Matrot Meursault - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (6/26/2009)
Decanted for 30 minutes, drank over the course of 2 hours. Slight reduction on the nose, but it blows off to reveal a very pure, very crystalline nose of lemon rind, wet rock and white flowers. The palate is still quite tight (duh, it’s an 07), but reveals almost overwhelming minerals, citrus rind, light butter and a touch of fresh herbs. The acidity is quite bracing, but the depth of the midpalate and the purity of the flavors really stand out. Hang on to these for a while, they aren’t going anywhere. The more Matrot I drink, the more I really appreciate the purity of their wines. 90+ (90 pts.)
