TN: 2007 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Ribbon Ridge Ribbon Ridge

I would be remiss if I didn’t both drink something to celebrate the integration of this board with CellarTracker! and publish a note. Here it is!

  • 2007 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Ribbon Ridge Ribbon Ridge - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (6/5/2009)
Clearly I was choosing the wrong producers in my previous attempts to “get” Oregon pinot. This is rockin’ right out of the gate. In stark contrast to the pumped up, pinot on steroids Beaux Freres’ Ribbon Ridge I had a couple months back. This is incredibly well balanced, transitioning from very clean plush fruit to lip smackin’ acidity to soft pleasing tannins on the finish. The complexity meter isn’t pegged but there’s enough going on to maintain interest, it is a 2007 after all, (meaning it’s young). This will definitely hold a few years but seriously, this is drinking great right now.

Oregon and me, we’re gonna’ get along just fine…

Thank god! This is more like it. I’ve got four of these and four of the old vines and the note on the '07 Croft had me sweating bullets. Different vineyard, different story, I guess.

I should add: No cotton candy, no bubblegum, no red-hots, (things I typically get out of most California pinots.) Woohoo!

(No offense to you Cali Pinophiles out there!)
