TN: 2007 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Herb Lamb (USA, California, Napa Valley)

  • 2007 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Herb Lamb - USA, California, Napa Valley (4/4/2020)
Decanted and waited 90 minutes before first drink. The wine definitely benefited from the decant and held its fragrant nose for hours. Dark ruby color and a thick inky liquid filled the glass. Floral fragrance of blackberries emanate effortlessly but with a dense tone portending a meaty full-bodied wine. Soft on the mouthfeel, the wine shines of rich, dark raspberries and bramble. Brilliant in its simplicity, this is a meaty, delicious California Cabernet that doesn’t try to be anything else. Wonderful body and long finish make this a truly enjoyable wine. I had a personal bias in favor of the 2008 vintage but the 2007s of late have really come into their own and delivered more consistently with the professional scores I previously took issue with. Drink now and for at least a decade to come. (94 pts.)
