This one looked interesting on the shelf–and it turned out to be interesting!

Nose of citrus blossom, lemon, spice and petrol (oddly enough). Very fresh, fine mousse, solid finish. Has the bit of creaminess that seems to appear in serious traditional method sparkly. But not a bready or toasty style. Reminds me of the still wine Chard that falls between stainless steel only and full on barrel fermentation with ML. This isn’t charmat method, but it isn’t driven solely by yeasty autolytic character–the varietal character shows yet there is depth of flavor from winemaking approach. Best sparkly I’ve had thus far, though I’m not a regular Champagne or domestic sparkling drinker. (90 pts.)
