TN: 2007 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains

  • 2007 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (4/27/2015)
Popped and poured. Darker ruby hue. Nose of damp cellar, forest floor, black raspberry, anise, violets, cinnamon. Big, boisterous flavors of black cherry, raspberry, dark plum, and soy laced with rock and iron as befits NSG, but darn if there wasn’t a satin lushness to the palate also. Vibrant acidity and structured tannins balancing the display of almost primary fruit. Long, sappy finish of red and dark fruit, rock, and grip. Super experience with this exuberant young wine. Just grabbed some 96 LSG. backfilling great PC s seems to be the smart play.

Nick,

I think you scored big and I would agree with your strategy.

The 2007 Vaucrains was drinking really well when I had it last year. Just had a 2000 Vaucrains this week, not as good as '07 vintage.

That is a bummer. I would have guessed the 2000 would be also drinking nicely now. I am realizing that 07 may be significantly more than a “place-holding” vintage.

Cheers
Doug

Love Chevillon but my last 2 bottles of 02 Vaucrains were massively corked.
