TN: 2007 Domaine Magellan Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Grenache Blanc Roussanne (Bruno Lafon Project)

It took me a while to locate Magalas on a French map (its south of Faugeres). This is a Vin de Pays wine but definitely drinks above its class. A nice “different” wine.

Moore Brothers did a good sell job on this. A Bruno Lafon wine for under $20. I figured I’d give it a whirl. This is not a bad wine. Pale yellow-green in the glass. Lemon and orange zest on the nose with a whiff of pineapple and minerals. The acidity packs a wallop on the palate and really zings you. I enjoy high acid wines like this, so my numerical score reflects this preference. Mostly minerals with citrus on the palate. It loses its focus toward the back end, but provides one last acidic zing on a nice, if not particularly long finish. (86 pts.)

VdP Hérault Domaine Magellan Alta 2010 : 15,5/16 – 1/12/2020
60% Tempranillo – 40% Cabernet-Sauvignon.

Note : Tempranillo is really very rare in France …
