2007 Domaine Daniel et Denis Alary Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Cairanne (10/20/2009)
Purple in the glass, ruby rims. The nose is explosive. Wow. black rasberries, cedar, grilled meats and black pepper aromas leap from the glass. Maybe a bit too much for now. Great texture. After about an hour, this settled into a very lush wine, still seemingly showing a lot of wood. Tons of fruit. At the two hour mark, this is drinking well and for $20, a very nice effort. Needs a couple of years in the cellar. The Syrah seems to dominate in this wine (I don’t know how much there is). There also seems a surpsigin amount of cedar notes. Do they use new oak barrels? Stem inclusion? In any event, worth buying a few more to lay down. (91 pts.)
