We visited Jean-Marc Millot in November on our HdB trip. While the premier and grand crus made by him may slightly underperform, this village wine overperforms, imo.
A pretty and lively nose of cherries and a touch of cherry stones leads to a wine that is very elegant with a lengthy finish on the palate. Drinking well now, on the second day more complexity shows itself, with (as Allen Meadows nails in his notes on the wine - his experience mirrors mine and I apologize that the notes are pretty similar) earth, underbrush (and a little mushroom) stepping up in the palate and nose, while still allowing the bright cherry fruit to shine. Very energetic wine which should age nicely in the mid-term but you won’t feel guilty popping a couple today - although I definitely appreciated it more the second day. Only available in New York and Oregon at around $30 according to wine-searcher.
