TN: 2007 Château de Saint-Cosme Côtes du Rhône Les Deux Albion

Pick one of these up if you can. It’s fantastic stuff for < $20.

I don’t think I’ve had a wine from Saint-Cosme that I didn’t enjoy and that trend continues with this wine. I could have sworn that this was a very high % of Syrah based on the nose alone with crushed ripe raspberries mixed with a really nice dose of white pepper. The peppery essence continued through to the palate and that’s an element that I really enjoyed with this wine. It gave it a nice bit of complexity that sets it apart from some of the more simple CdR’s out there. I was surprised to read that this is only 30% Syrah, with the rest being 40% Grenache and 10% each of Mouvedre, Carignan, and Clairette. All of the varietals were co-fermented together which appears to have worked quite well in this little gem. (92 pts.)

It seems like year in and year out this wine is a great deal. I also agree with you about liking all of their wines.

This is the first time I’ve had this particular wine from them but I’ll certainly not hesitate to try anything they make now.

I enjoy this leaps and bounds more than his straight CdR, which is all syrah, I think. And it’s only $3 or $4 more/bottle. As you step up to the Gigondas, it gets even better.

Thanks for the TN. A case of mags is shipping this fall.
