TN: 2007 Carlisle, Zinfandel, Sonoma, Rossi Ranch

Ripe, almost jammy, fruit with a bite.
There is a definite cut to this wine that is not from acidity but there is a jammmy quality underneath.
The cut makes it more interesting but there is a bit too much alcohol on the finish.
All in all very good but not the best Carlisle Zin I have had.

Carlisle’s Zinfandels are certainly different than, say, Turley Zinfandels which are all about lush & rich fruit.
I guess Carlisle’s addition of a little bit of various Rhone varieties makes the difference … I guess.
In this case the label says they added a touch of Alicante Bouschet for color.
Perhaps it also gave his wine it’s bite.
