2007 Big Basin Vineyards Odeon Black Ridge Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (5/15/2010)
Very interesting offering from Bradley and the Big Basin team. A syrah/cab blend. 16% alcohol (undetectable). Dark ruby. Really lovely mostly black fruit aromas. I taste structured cab fruit here, but with bright syrah highlights. This is a very appealing wine that should improve for 3-4 more years. (92 pts.)

I really like this wine. I bought 3 of the Odeon and 3 of the 07 Mandala syrah. I prefer the Odeon. It has such a nice mouthfeel and great depth of flavor. Drank all three of the Odeon’s within a month. My wife and I had the last one a week or so ago at a local steak house (Taylor’s in La Canada) and it was oh so good with the steak and prime rib…we hated to see that bottle die. I’d say it would easily get a 92 from me.
Here’s my note from April, really a nice wine for a great price- $ 40 IIRC

2007 Big Basin Vineyards Odeon Black Ridge Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (4/11/2010)
Decanted 2 hours, consumed over 4. Nose of black currants, mint, and cedar. On the palate the Cab dominates with more black currant, blackberry, some cedar and really fine dusty tannins. Overall a really nice bottle that may be a little much for some people, but if like me you don’t drink a lot of Cab, when you reach for one- big slutty fruit is what your looking for. Nice job and drinking well with 2 hours of air.

Tasted this again tonight. Even better! Well done Bradley!
my girlfriend loves this wine. so much so we had to buy another case at the last open house big basin had. this wine rocks and should be a home run in 5 years. And I agree, you can’t taste any heat at all. this wine is a real winner!
