after the ‘low’ score this recently got in WA, which was in marked contrast to the comments on this, the ‘other’ board, and cellartracker, i decided to try one of these. popped and poured. deep purple color. muted dark fruit on the nose and palate, started out as very tannic. ran the 2nd glass through the vinturi and it opened up nicely - tannins still present but much more blackberry fruit showing. long finish. granted this was infanticide but i would tend to rate it more in line with cellartrackers than RMP, somewhere in the 94-96 range. drinking pretty well now but with lots of potential imho.
and to thread drift my own thread, the experience i had with this wine is becoming more and more prevalent with me; i.e., i tend to use cellartracker and certain board members’ experiences more and more for my references, and professional critics less and less. i still subscribe to ws,iwc, but use cellartracker more. as just one example, look at the contrast between ws’ recent rating of 95 for the tensley 08 colson and the comments on cellartracker.
