Another winner from Windy Oaks. Two hour decant. Transparent ruby with a browning rim. Killer nose showing savory cured meat and cardamom. Just a pleasure to have in the mouth. Light and graceful. The fruit is quite bright and displays spicy tart cherry and more savory/ herbal components. Allspice creeps in and really brings this together. Again, the texture is just amazing here. Refreshing, but drying as well. More spice and minerals on the long finish.

A note on the oak. Wonderfully integrated and it just plays well with fruit that isn’t overripe and round. The acidity also helps this become a spicy component rather than an overbearing one. I should mention that this really shines with my Baron Farms burgers which I added some bacon, Vermont Cheddar and garlic to. This is just a brilliant wine and reaffirms why I love this producer. 06 Wood Tank is one of my favorite Windy Oaks. Great note.
