TN: 2006 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Tre Vigne (Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba)

Had this alongside noodles and home-made Bolognese sauce. As I thought, a perfect wine and food match. The Barbera is full of juicy cherry and baking soda flavors but it is showing some nice earthiness, too. Lovely acid structure and sappiness in this wine that keeps you smacking your lips after each sip. A fruity yet very dry wine that always does so well with any tomato dish. Great wine, and a laughable QPR at the $23 I purchased it for.

I love this one each year, exactly for the reasons you describe. Been through a couple of '06s already and have a few more waiting.

Funny that I pulled this out to drink last night and then changed my mind and went with 2001 Vielle Julienne CdP. Thanks for the note.
