2006 Turley Zinfandel Juvenile - USA, California (5/3/2010)
Tannic, sour fruit, disjointed. Pepper and oak overwhelm the slight cherry fruit. There were hints of coal. minerality and forest floor/moss that showed signs of promise but I had to dig for something positive in this wine. The worst showing for Juvenile for me in a very long time. Very hot finish. (81 pts.)

is this the first 06 you have had
makes me think i need to drink the 06s…
thanks for the note.
I believe this is the lone '06 I also had, and my review is not much better…
Slightly better on second day. Nothing to get excited about. Short finish, some cherry and very little complexity.
I have not had a lot of luck with Juvenile’s from '06 or '05. They all had a grassy/herbal element that was not to my liking.
Thanks,
Ed.
I’d agree with Ed. I was not a fan of the '05 or '06 Juvenile (the Old Vines wasn’t much better). The '07 was quite a bit better. Not as thin and acidic. Haven’t touched the 08 yet.

Accurate note for just about any of the '05s or '06s. I know I’m over-generalizing, but I wish the Parker notes had been a little more accurate and I would not have bought so many. I finally stopped buying with the '07s and '08s, although, based on the '07s, these last two are much better vintages.
I actually had the 08 of this over the weekend and while I am historically not impressed with Turley, this was quite nice. Not hot at all, and very elegant and with Pinot-like flavors and texture. Had this against the Capiaux Chimera PN 08.
Notes compare to your notes on the 06 Juvenile.
