2006 Sine Qua Non Syrah Raven Series - USA, California (7/17/2009)
This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, generously contributed to our Friday tasting by one of the tasters. Opaque purple and lacking nothing in intensity, this wine sports aromas and gustatory elements of assorted black fruits, coffee, bacon and minerals. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity and massive ripe tannins. Despite the power of the wine, the mouth texture is silky and the finish goes on forever. Amazing juice! Drink now-12/15. (95 pts.)

Steve opened his 06 Grenache when we were in Telluride. I gotta say no one liked it. Sweet, cloying, over-oaked. Not my cup of tea. Tasted blind would have guessed Aussie Grenache from a hot vintage.
I unfortunately agree with this. The syrah is WAY better than the grenache at this stage of the game.

I’m not sure what else I can add to my previous note after drinking this wine again. This wine is so gorgeous, seamless, and delicious. It sings of blackberry, cassis, and perfectly ripe dark cherries. The mid-palate is so smooth and transitions into the never ending finish with ease. There is no noticeable heat. This wine was decanted for 3 hours. Amazing and worth every penny IMHO. (97 pts.)

We were just gifted a bottle by a board member for a trivial favor so I am asking about a drinking window while still reflecting about this fellow’s incredible generosity.
Glenn…you can drink this at my window ANYTIME! We’ll pair it with this Vilmart Champ that I have. 
This needs at least an hour decant to begin to sing right now. I believe this will improve for many years to come. I also know that it is not baby killing or a waste to crack one of these now. This is my second bottle in 6 months. Delicious!!
