TN: 2006 Schrader BTK RBS

have been a buyer of Schrader since the 2006 vintage, but have only had a few bottles. Have only had the 2006 BTK and the 2004 BTK previously. The 2006 was superb, but the 2004 was good, not great.

We were in the celebrating mood tonight and I popped and poured the 2006 BTK RBS. Hopefully those more in the know can remind me the differences in the RBS vs. CCS vs. T6.

Initially, the nose was super dense, but I poured it back and forth between 2 decanters 5 or so times to get it some oxygen and then it opened up. Wow…

Super dark blackberry, leather, iodine, hints of spice, just soar up in your nose. Gorgeous! Palate entry is soft and sanguine. There is a beautiful “wet” feel on the palate, mixed with an iron, almost blood-like note, that almost moves anterior across the palate. Such a unique palate feel. And of course, there is the impeccable balance and length that one would expect in a wine of this caliber. . Wow! Fantastic wine. 97+ points.

Difference is Cabernet clone as all are 100% clonal selections from BTK.

Nice bottle to celebrate with! If I’m not mistaken RBS = Clone 337, CCS = Clone 4, and T6 if you haven’t figure it out = Clone 6.

So what you’re saying is that you did a quintuple decant. Sounds about right. I’m holding mine until I can do a double, triple at most. [cheers.gif]

Had the 2012 RBS two nights ago at the Wine Spectator NY Grand Tasting. You will be very pleased with it. Amazing wine.
